Halloween

We had a fun Halloween. There wasn't much happening in our neighborhood, but that was okay because we planned to meet up with our friends and in-laws, where they have a happening cul-de-sac on Halloween. We visited with Jack & Emma's grandparents, aunties, uncle and friends throughout the day. Emma and Ryan went to a Halloween party at her school and delivered cookies & cupcakes there. Jack enjoyed going up to each door and holding out his hand for candy to put in his bag. Emma ran up with her friends (and us) to each door. It was fun to make their costumes. I was so proud I made Jack's out of an old shirt Ryan was planning to donate to Goodwill and some scrap fabric.

Easter

This year we counted down to Easter with Bible stories each day for the 12 days before Easter. We got the idea from this blog via Pinterest. I changed a couple of the stories based on the ones I thought Emma would like. All in all, it was a fun way to consider who Jesus is and the meaning of Easter.


Of course, we dyed Easter eggs and had an egg hunt Easter morning before church. We used Resurrection Eggs, which provide objects to help tell the story of the stations of the cross. The last egg is empty of course, to symbolize Jesus' resurrection.

Jack got some bath toys, a book, and a sippy cup in his basket. Emma got a swimsuit, goggles, Pochahontas doll, book, and a chocolate bunny in her basket.

Grammy and Grampy also brought baskets the day before.

We had a wonderful church service and a brunch at Natalie & Kenny's. Then we headed to celebrate with the Scotts, Smiths and Youseys. There was a huge Easter egg hunt put on by the grandparents, with Emma running after Shelbe the whole time, saying, "Don't take all the eggs!" and Shelbe responding, "It's not about the eggs, Emma. It's about Jesus!" as he tried to get as many eggs as fast as he could.
